Comic writer and artist Skottie Young is putting his money where his mouth is during the worldwide fight against coronavirus and COVID-19. Young is donating 20% of all sales at SkottieYoung.com to Hero Initiative, the charity that helps comic book creators in medical or financial need.
“Comics are my whole life. I spent my childhood reading them and my entire adult life making them,” Young said. “We’re taking the needed steps to keep our country safe to slow the spreading of COVID-19, but in doing that, so many aspects of our lives are going to be affected in huge ways, our comics community included. With conventions being canceled, books being postponed, publishers pushing pause on production and launches, and retailers on the front lines figuring out how to keep their doors open, we have to find ways to help each other. There will be no great time in my memory where Hero Initiative will be needed.”
Young’s donation starts immediately, and will run through Aril 30, 2020, on all sales at SkottieYoung.com.
